FWCHP Ambassador Martin Varela Honoured with King Charles III Coronation Medal

We’re incredibly proud to share that Martin Varela, FWCHP Plan Ambassador, has been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal, presented on behalf of Senator Burey. This prestigious honour recognizes his outstanding contributions to Canada and his unwavering commitment to supporting foreign workers in Leamington, Ontario, and beyond.

A Lifelong Advocate for Foreign Workers

For years, Martin has been a dedicated advocate for foreign workers, ensuring they have access to essential healthcare, resources, and community support while living and working in Canada. Many of these workers face significant challenges, from language barriers to navigating healthcare and workplace rights and Martin has played a key role in making sure they feel supported, valued, and empowered.

Beyond his work with FWCHP, Martin also serves as the chairman of the Migrant Worker Community Program (MWCP). Under his leadership, MWCP has organized events, educational workshops, and outreach programs in Leamington, Kingsville, Wheatley, Essex, and surrounding areas. These initiatives help migrant workers connect with the local community, access important services, and feel a sense of belonging. His efforts have strengthened relationships between foreign workers, farmers, and residents, creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for all.

Recognizing the Impact of His Work

The King Charles III Coronation Medal is awarded to individuals who have made a lasting impact in their communities. Martin’s work embodies this recognition. His leadership and advocacy have not only improved the well-being of thousands of foreign workers but have also helped strengthen the industries and communities that rely on their contributions.

Foreign workers play a vital role in Canada’s economy, particularly in agriculture, hospitality, and healthcare. Their hard work often goes unnoticed, despite being essential to these industries. By honouring Martin with this medal, it brings well-deserved attention to the importance of supporting these workers and ensuring they have access to the resources and community they need to thrive.
